Summary

As part of our recruitment drive to appoint Early Career Teachers for 2024, we are looking to engage with committed and inspirational primary trainee teachers seeking their first post as a qualified teacher, as part of an innovative and highly supportive academy team.

We want to hear from trainee primary teachers who are interested to join one of our high performing and thriving departments, with vacancies available across a wide range of subjects, phases, and locations across London. Successful applicants will be added to our central talent pool, and we will share your application with academies in your preferred location as soon as relevant opportunities become available - you will only need to complete one application. Academies and our central team may also contact you directly about possible roles.

Visits to our academies are strongly encouraged for shortlisted candidates and will be offered if you are invited to interview.

About Us

The Harris Federation is the leading large Multi Academy Trust in the country for both primary and secondary education and has an unrivalled track record in raising standards and achieving success for the children in our academies. Harris is a Federation and not a chain; each academy is different, reflecting the particular aspirations and leadership style of its Principal. All our primary and secondary academies are rated ‘Good' or ‘Outstanding' by Ofsted and we are recognised for transforming the life chances of the children that we educate.

The Harris Federation comprises over 50 academies in and around London. Some of these are among the highest performing in the country, with many located in areas of disadvantage.

As an ECT, you will be a part of the brand new NIoT ECT programme, training alongside other ECTs from across the Federation. This enables aspiring teachers to support and learn from each other, in the true collaborative spirit of Harris.

Our ECT induction programme, delivered from the NIoT through our outstanding Harris Federation Teaching School Hub, aims to welcome new teachers and build their self-confidence in the first few weeks of their career. There is regular contact with other ECTs within and across subject areas, and a structure of support and challenge with customised professional learning sessions throughout the year.

Every ECT has a professional mentor that works with you to make sure that your specific training and support needs are met. You will have the opportunity to observe lessons being delivered by experienced teachers. There are also a wide range of additional programmes open to ECTs through the Teaching School Hub to help you achieve your career ambitions.

Details of the NIoT programme can be found here: https://niot.org.uk/programmes/early-career-teachers
