Why did you choose to become a governor?

I became a governor because I know how important schools are to supporting children and their wider local communities and I wanted to offer my skills and experience. I became a Harris governor in particular because I am hugely impressed by the way Harris weaves together high educational standards, child focussed support, creative educational approaches and a strong use of data to improve the academy's performance.

What advice would you give someone interested in being a governor?

I was a complete newbie to the world of education and there are A LOT of acronyms. So ask what KS2/ SLT/ LADO etc means - school staff are fluent in this acronym lingo and happy to help us who aren't in the education system get a handle on it.
