2022 annual staff conference highlights
In October 2022, for the first time since before the pandemic, all 4,000 of our colleagues across the Federation came together for an inspiring day of workshops and training.
At the ExCeL Centre in London, our teachers, leaders, and support staff celebrated the last year’s accomplishments and started planning what comes next.
The day started with a keynote from Sir Dan Moynihan, Chief Executive which centered on the topic of ‘confident self-reliance’ that embodies the culture of the Federation.
What is ‘confident self-reliance’?
The theme of ‘confident self-reliance’ is about being the first to try new things that will make an impact, and finding solutions that will help our young people to succeed.
(It’s) a culture most of all of doing the right thing even when it’s the difficult thing. Of seeing the problem and sorting it out. But being brave and having the temerity to make decisions quickly and act fast.

We then enjoyed a wonderful performance from our talented cross-Federation choir, Harris in Harmony, made up of young people from our academies.
Our staff later divided into their specialisms for focused workshops, centered on a mix of CPD, future planning, and sharing best practice.
The day ended with the Harris Transforming Lives Awards, our annual recognition scheme celebrating the incredible achievements of our colleagues who have gone above and beyond this past year.
