How do you feel your ECT experience has been so far?

It's been a really positive experience. I have been really well supported by the teachers around me; they have lots of knowledge that helps and I get to feed off that and bring it into my own classes. I have support from SLT and they allow me to make the most of my time and to teach to the highest standards possible.

Could you tell me a highlight of your ECT journey?

I've enjoyed starting to teach Key Stage 5 and having that backing from my mentor, from the teachers around me, and having help to plan those lessons. I would also say the trickier classes have been a highlight too as I've enjoyed getting to know them, understand how they work, and build relationships that allow us to have a good classroom environment.

What would you say to someone considering an ECT role at the Harris Federation?

I would recommend a role at the Harris Federation. The support they provide here is excellent and I know that I will always have the backing from other members of the team. I know I’ve got that experience to help me with my lessons, to prepare lessons that are relevant or specific to the curriculum, and that they can help me improve every day as a teacher whilst at a Harris academy.

What would you say to someone considering a role at Harris Academy Battersea?

Go for it! It is a warm environment, the teachers are all friendly, and it's a lot of fun. We get on really well in between departments as well and it's nice that we don't feel like we are sectioned out into different departments. The way that everyone looks after each other is one of the best things about working here. The science department is amazing as well, so if you want to get into teaching science, Harris Academy Battersea is the one.

What do you love most about working at Harris Academy Battersea?

For me personally, it is that every day is a challenge, different and unique. I don’t know what I am going to step into everyday and that is what keeps driving me and helps me to keep learning.
