Record number of nominations at Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich for Annual Harris Awards

Midweek Spotlight Back

The Harris Federation awards the Transforming Lives Awards each year to a select number of staff members across the Harris Federation. This annual celebration of Harris Staff across the Federation commemorates our academies and their individual efforts to transform lives, close the gap and deliver exceptional learning to all the young people we serve. At Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich, Congratulations is in order all round with a record number of nominations this year with colleagues nominated for awards in several categories:

  • Transforming Lives as a Trainee
  • Transforming Lives through Cross-Federation Collaboration
  • Transforming Lives through Partnerships, Community and Enterprise
  • Transforming Lives as Support Staff
  • Transforming Lives through Quality of Care and Wellbeing
  • Transforming lives as a Leader
  • as well as several nominees for the Transforming Lives as a Teacher Award.

Amongst HBAED's winners, Mr Grant in Mathematics has been recognised as the overall Transforming Lives as a Teacher winner this year and rightfully so. He is an exemplary practitioner in and out of the classroom. He brings the best out of all of the students he teaches, raising standards across both his department and the Academy.

Grant

"Passion for teaching"

“It is truly an amazing feeling to be acknowledged and appreciated by my colleagues and students," said Mr Grant."This recognition is a product of my passion for teaching and learning, coupled with the desire to see students break through barriers. Without the continued support of the fantastic team of professionals at HBAED, this award would not have been possible. Showing our students that we care, is a key recipe for increased engagement which aids in transforming their lives.”

Mr Grant was awarded his winners trophy last Monday in a celebration evening for all staff conducted remotely. The awards are previously given during the Federation's Conference at the Excel centre in October. Although remotely, the acknowledgement from all staff was clear to see with real pride of one of our own winning the coveted Teacher of the Year prize from the HBAED Staff.
